Voice, Violin/Viola, and Guitar/Bass Instructor

Deeply Rooted Music School is currently seeking passionate and experienced voice, violin/viola, and guitar/bass instructors to start immediately. At DRMS, we empower students to express themselves through music with collaboration, creativity, and fun. We are looking for teachers who can work with students and staff to provide engaging and effective music instruction.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of prior teaching experience with students age 5-12.

  • Empathetic communication skills, patience, and an open, encouraging work style.

  • Must be highly qualified to instruct in their instrument area. Additional experience with a second content area (particularly electronic music production) is appreciated but not required.

  • Degree in music, music education, or some formal training/certification in music or education preferred.

  • Must have at least 6 years of active experience in their instrument/content area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide private 1-on-1 lessons and/or group classes for students

  • Create a safe and fun learning environment for students

  • Prepare the content and materials for each lesson or class

  • Provide DRMS the name, description, and length of the classes or lessons Instructor is able and willing to teach as well as ideal class size for each.

  • Show up on time with timely notification and communication of absences

  • Report lesson attendance, attend periodic school meetings, and periodically update DRMS on lesson progress

  • Option to teach virtual lessons or classes (must provide your own technology materials)

  • Handle DRMS instruments and facilities appropriately, responsibly, and with care

COMPENSATION

Instructor shall be paid on a per-event basis. Each class/lesson/workshop will be approved by both the Instructor and the School at the start of each quarter, based on student interest and sign-ups. Compensation includes any communications with students, answering questions, and basic scheduling with the school – these will not be individually compensated. Compensation ranges from $30 to $40 per hour, depending on experience.

Studio Operations Coordinator

ROLE SUMMARY

The Studio Operations & Facilities Coordinator ensures the school runs smoothly each day by managing building upkeep, maintaining supplies, supporting the front desk, and handling essential billing tasks. This role is about keeping both the physical space and the administrative systems in top shape: so teachers can teach, students can learn, and families feel well cared for. It blends behind-the-scenes organization with welcoming front-line service, requiring a balance of dependability, attention to detail, and friendly communication. From restocking classroom materials to following up on overdue invoices, this position helps keep the school clean, functional, and financially organized while supporting a positive experience for every student and family.
 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Building Maintenance & Facilities Oversight

  • Keep the school clean, organized, and functional on a daily basis.

  • Maintain the building checklist: take out trash, tidy front desk, sanitize classrooms, restock supplies.

  • Coordinate on larger building maintenance needs or repairs.

  • Monitor classroom usage and flag any facility-related issues.

Shopping & Supplies 

  • Maintain inventory systems for office, bathroom, and classroom supplies.

  • Restock and shop regularly for essential items, using the shared shopping list.

  • Track supply needs across teams and fulfill them proactively.

  • Support organization of shared music gear and materials throughout the school.

Merchandise & Book Sales

  • Oversee inventory for books and merchandise, including tracking stock levels, flagging low inventory, and placing orders as needed.

  • Maintain organized records of all book and merchandise sales for reporting purposes.

  • Support sales tax compliance by providing accurate monthly sales figures and ensuring receipts are properly recorded.

Billing & Financial Admin

  • Monitor and follow up on unpaid invoices in a timely, professional manner.

  • Track overdue balances and communicate with families using established templates and tone

  • Support refund requests, credit application, and make-up credit tracking as needed.

  • Collaborate to flag ongoing issues or patterns related to billing.

Front Desk

  • Act as the primary point of contact for students and families during assigned front desk hours, creating a warm and professional first impression.

  • Manage check-ins, track attendance, and ensure front desk operations run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Respond promptly and courteously to phone calls, walk-in inquiries, and emails from both new and existing students.

  • Support new student inquiries by providing information, answering questions, and assisting with enrollment.

  • Follow up with existing students to ensure continued satisfaction and address any needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in administrative roles, preferably within an educational or similar customer-facing environment.

  • Experience in customer service with the ability to be a warm and welcoming presence, serving as a positive point of contact for students, families, and children while deescalating concerns in a calm and professional manner.

  • Dependability and reliability, consistently showing up for scheduled shifts and completing routine tasks without reminders.

  • Strong attention to detail, noticing what’s missing or out of place and taking steps to fix it.

  • Excellent follow-through, tracking tasks to completion and clearly communicating when they are done.

  • Initiative to spot issues before they become problems and take action proactively.

  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to keep the team informed, flag issues, and ask questions when needed.

  • Comfortable handling difficult conversations, particularly regarding billing, scheduling conflicts, or policy enforcement, while maintaining empathy and professionalism.

  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to maintain systems and order behind the scenes.

  • Comfort with basic financial tasks, including processing billing and following up on unpaid invoices with professionalism and accuracy.

  • Passion for music and education, with a desire to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports to DRMS managers, with regular coordination and handoffs with the administrative team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a part-time, in-person role, estimated at 23–25 hours per week. Standard hours will be Tuesdays from 1–8 pm, Wednesdays from 2–8 pm, Saturdays from 9:30 am–2:30 pm, and Sundays from 9:30 am–2:30 pm. While the standard weekly schedule is listed above, occasional adjustments may be required for events such as recitals or operational needs. We will provide as much advance notice as possible.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This role is compensated at $18 per hour, covering all role-related responsibilities such as communications with students, answering questions, and basic scheduling.
